Excel Import. Use of Primary Key to Update rather than Import duplicate entries?

Judging from the forum, it looks like Im unlikely to get an answer here, but its worth a shot.

Excel Import works great, except for one thing. As far as I can tell, you can only import new information. There doesnt seem to be a way to actually update existing entries. Rather, it always imports all rows as if they are new, creating duplicates. It would be helpful if we could set a cell as a Primary key. If that key exists already then update changes in values. If it doesnt exist, create new rows/entries.
